We Are Hiring!

MERAKI is growing, and we're looking to expand our team of Road Safety Auditors. Whether you're just starting out in road safety engineering or you're an experienced Audit Team Leader, we'd like to hear from you.

We carry out over 600 Road Safety Audits a year across the UK, working on schemes for local authorities and private sector clients. Our auditors work in accordance with GG119 of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), and we support our team with training, mentoring and continuing professional development at every stage of their career.

We currently have opportunities at all levels:

  • Senior Road Safety Auditor
  • Road Safety Auditor
  • Trainee Road Safety Auditor

Principal Road Safety Auditor

This role suits an experienced auditor who is ready to lead. As an Audit Team Leader, you will hold a National Highways approved Certificate of Competency in Road Safety Audit (in accordance with Appendix G of GG119) and will typically bring well over ten years' experience in road safety engineering, collision investigation or a related highway discipline. You will also be a member of SoRSA.

You'll take the lead on audit commissions across all stages (Stage 1 to 4), manage client relationships, and provide technical direction and mentoring to less experienced members of the team. A track record of managing a varied audit caseload, strong report writing skills, and the confidence to present and defend findings to clients and design teams are essential.

We're looking for:

  • Certificate of Competency in Road Safety Audit, held and maintained through regular CPD
  • A Member of the Society of Road Safety Auditors
  • Extensive experience as an Audit Team Leader on trunk road, motorway and/or local authority schemes
  • Strong working knowledge of GG119 and related DMRB standards
  • Experience mentoring or supervising other auditors
  • Excellent client-facing and report writing skills

Road Safety Auditor

This role suits an auditor with a solid grounding in road safety engineering or collision data analysis who is progressing towards, or has recently gained, their Certificate of Competency. You'll typically have a minimum of four years' relevant experience, and will already be undertaking audits regularly as an Audit Team Leader.

You'll work across a range of schemes and audit stages, carrying out site visits, drafting audit reports.

We're looking for:

  • A minimum of four years' experience in collision data analysis, road safety engineering or road design
  • Have ten-days formal training required under GG119
  • Recent, regular involvement in Road Safety Audits as an Audit Team Leader
  • Up-to-date CPD in road safety audit, collision analysis or road safety engineering
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail

Trainee Road Safety Auditor

This role suits someone at the start of their road safety career, perhaps with some experience in highway design, road safety engineering or transport planning, who is looking to specialise in Road Safety Audit. A degree in civil or transportation engineering (or equivalent experience) is desirable but not essential - we're just as interested in your enthusiasm and attention to detail.

We will provide 10 days formal training as required by DMRB GG119. You'll join our audits as a Team Observer, gaining hands-on experience of the audit process across different stages and scheme types, while working towards the formal training and experience needed to become an Audit Team Member.

We're looking for:

  • Some experience or a genuine interest in highway design, road safety engineering or transport planning
  • Willingness to undertake formal Road Safety Audit training
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a genuine interest in road safety
  • Good written communication skills
